Vanilla, to my young, naive self was the scent of womanhood and sexuality, or well, my idea of it anyway. To me, the note often dominated every body spray (or splash), body lotion, and eau de toilette I became acquainted with in my formative adolescent years, heavily lingering in the halls of my high school, in the upholstery of my friends' first cars (often a sensible Volkswagon Jetta or Passat and the occasional BMW for the rich girls), and often delivered in tandem with a sensory ambush of glitter or body shimmer.
